Review of Dietetics: Manual for the Registration Examination for Dietitians, 2017-2019 Edition
Mary Abbott Hess, LHD, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND
Review of Dietetics is the most comprehensive manual that covers all essential content of the “Study Outline” of the Commission on Dietetic Registration, which is the basis for current licensure examinations. This, and previous editions, have helped over 10,000 dietitians to become registered.
The 550-page Review of Dietetics is a comprehensive manual that provides essential information on all content areas listed in the current Study Outline of the Commission on Dietetic Registration, which is the basis for licensure examinations to obtain the RDN credential.
The book, which provides the facts needed to answer examination questions, gathers content of many courses into one volume. It reflects thousands of hours of research and organization by many subject-matter experts, faculty and reviewers over many years. Mary Abbott Hess, LHD, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND is the book’s editor. The faculty of Cedar Crest College were contributors to this edition.
Over ten thousand exam candidates have studied from previous editions of Review of Dietetics and passed the registration exam to become RDN’s. This book is also used as a textbook in dietetic internships and as a desktop reference for educators and practitioners.
How does the 2017-2019 edition differ from earlier editions?
The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) reorganized the content of the exam beginning in January 2017 based on the most recent practice audit. The 2017-2019 edition has added topics and updated material based on the new CDR outline.
Does the manual contain test questions?
No. Our format is a comprehensive book of study notes with information to answer questions however they may be asked.
This manual is used as a text in many dietetic internships while other dietetic educators recommend it as a study guide to help their graduates pass the registration exam. It is in a spiral notebook format so students can mark notes and highlight specific topics for study. This is copyrighted material and it is illegal, and a violation of professional ethics, to copy or transfer any of the manual without permission.
